Jon Banner

Jon joined the company in 1983 and set about learning all aspects of the family business from day one. This involved accompanying his father, David, to livestock market, learning the skill of butchery in the still thriving retail shop, experimenting with and expanding the manufacturing of products for the retail shop and also learning the book keeping side of the business. Today Jon dedicates his time to the accounting and administration of the business but still keeps a hand in the retail and catering elements of Banner Foods.

Chris Banner

Chris joined the company in 1985 after a brief spell with Sainsbury’s in London. He worked alongside his brother Jon in the retail shop and together they built it up to be arguably one of the best examples of a new breed of butcher’s shops in the Midlands. This culminated in 1993 in a hefty investment and the shop was duly doubled in size and turnover. Then in 1995 after Safeway opened not more than 1 mile away it was decided that Chris was to concentrate on the production of ready meals for the food service industry. In April 1998 Banner Foods (Bromsgrove) Ltd was formed and Chris has built the ready meal business to what it is now.

Glyn Richards

Glyn was employed by the Banner family to fill the gap left at management level in the retail shop by Chris Banner moving solely over to the ready meal side of the business in 1998. Glyn came from Somerfield Supermarkets where he was assistant store manager in Coventry. He quickly took the bull by the horns! and found running a small family retail business both rewarding and exciting. His talents and capabilities were rewarded in 2002 when he was made a Director of the company. Today he is still a big presence in the retail store but he is also invaluable as the company’s chief buyer and production manager.

All three directors of Banner Foods are extremely competent at their particular roles but the secret of this management team is that any one of them can step into one of the others roles with a seamless sideward’s step. This means the business, its customers and its staff always have someone to answer whatever they ask of the management team at Banner Foods Ltd.
